According to David Ornstein of , Nottingham Forest have made a verbal offer to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The Ligue 1 side are believed to be leaning towards accepting the €35 million proposal, with easily achievable add-ons to make the sum larger.
Forest are also in discussions with Fofana s representatives over the prospect, as well as the personal terms of a potential contract, but there are apparently other interested clubs monitoring the situation closely.
The 24-year-old France international has emerged as the top name in a list of candidates for strengthening Steve Cooper s midfield ranks, which also included Ibrahim Sangare of PSV Eindhoven, Leicester City s Wilfred Ndidi, Leeds United s Tyler Adams, as well as Florentino Luis of Benfica.
Raised at the academy at Strasbourg, Fofana joined Monaco in 2020. Since then, he s gone on to make a total of 141 appearances for the club, and to earn 10 caps for the World Cup runners-up.
