Juventus 1-1 Roma: Abraham cancels out Vlahovic stunner as both sides remain unbeaten

Tammy Abraham turned in a goal assisted by Paulo Dybala as Roma battled to a 1-1 draw at Juventus to leave both sides unbeaten after three Serie A matches.

Roma had won their first two games without conceding but were behind to a sublime Dusan Vlahovic free-kick after 76 seconds – the forward s fastest strike in the competition.

After being held to a 0-0 draw by Sampdoria last time out, Juve looked far brighter in an attacking sense and had a second goal through Manuel Locatelli contentiously ruled out.

Jose Mourinho s side hit back in the second half when ex-Juve man Dybala s apparent attempt at goal turned into an assist for Abraham, meaning the points were shared in Turin.

Vlahovic managed just eight touches of the ball in last week s stalemate wit…

Zagadou set to join Stuttgart

Dan-Axel Zagadou is set to join Stuttgart as a free agent, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The defender joined Borussia Dortmund from the youth setup at Paris Saint-Germain back in 2017, and went on to make a total of 92 appearances for the German club in all competitions before seeing his contract run out this summer.

Still only 23, Zagadou was reportedly targeted by West Ham, Olympique Lyon, Inter Milan and AS Roma, but it seems his preference was always to remain in the Bundesliga. The agreement with Stuttgart appears imminent at this point, and the medical ahead of the completion of the transfer should take place some time this week.

Zagadou represented France at practically every youth level, but he is yet to make a single senior appearance for his country an…

Arjen Robben retires for a second time after injury-hit season at Groningen

Arjen Robben has decided to bring his playing career to an end just a year after announcing his return with boyhood club Groningen.

Former Bayern Munich and Netherlands great Robben initially called it quits in 2019 following a decade in Bavaria, having seen the final few years of his time in the Bundesliga partially interrupted by fitness problems.

After a season away he announced in June 2020 that he was to return to football with Groningen, the club at which he started his career, in an attempt to help them out amid the coronavirus pandemic.

It was to be his first season in the Eredivisie since 2003-04, which was the last of his two campaigns with PSV prior to joining Chelsea.

However, injuries and fitness issues restricted Robben to just seven league …

Messi to lead Argentina in Copa America, Dybala left out of squad

Argentina are aiming to defend their Copa America title as Lionel Scaloni names a 29-man provisional squad ahead of the tournament.

Lionel Messi will once again captain the side, with Scaloni also choosing the experienced Angel Di Maria and Nicolas Otamendi in the squad.

Enzo Fernandez is called up, despite missing the end of Chelsea s Premier League season due to having groin surgery in April. Lisandro Martinez is also recalled despite only recently returning from injury.

A surprise omission to the squad is Roma’s Paulo Dybala, who has scored 16 goals across all competitions this season and earned three player of the month awards in an impressive season.

However, the forward could not force his way back into the squad after being limited to just two su…

AEK Athens 1-2 Leicester City: In-form Vardy strikes in Europa League victory

Jamie Vardy continued his prolific goalscoring streak as Leicester City claimed a gritty 2-1 win over AEK Athens in Europa League Group G on Thursday.

Vardy put Leicester ahead from the penalty spot with his 11th goal from his last 12 appearances in all competitions.

Hamza Choudhury put the Foxes two up before the interval with a crisp finish before Muamer Tankovic got one back early in the second half.

However, AEK were unable to muster an equaliser as Leicester chalked up only their third ever away victory in Europe.

Leicester were awarded a penalty when Vardy went to ground following a touch by AEK goalkeeper Panagiotis Tsintotas after being put through by James Maddison.

Tsintotas almost made amends when he got a hand to Vardy s spot…

Chelsea and Liverpool monitor Summerville

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea and Liverpool are monitoring the situation of Crysencio Summerville at Leeds United with a view of a possible transfer this summer.

Both clubs watched the 22-year-old winger closely throughout the 2023/24 season, and with Leeds failing to earn promotion to the English top flight for the next campaign, there s obviously a chance to lure him away from Elland Road, despite there being two more years on his contract with the Championship side.

Having risen through the youth ranks at Feyenoord, Summerville left Netherlands to join Leeds Under-21 side in 2020 and earned first-team promotion the following year. During the recently concluded season, he had 31 goal involvements (21 goals, 10 assists) in 49 matches across all competitions.

5 things we learned from this weekend’s Scottish Premiership action

Celtic’s 1-0 win over Rangers was undoubtedly the big match of the fourth weekend of the cinch Premiership season.

But there were plenty of talking points elsewhere with late equalisers in Perth and Livingston, controversy in Kilmarnock and big wins for Motherwell and Hibernian.

Here are five things we learned from the weekend’s action.

Michael Beale is under real pressure

Defeat by Celtic at Ibrox took Brendan Rodgers’ side four points clear of their rivals, who have already lost two league games before the first international break. The Rangers supporters turned on Beale and his players in a toxic atmosphere at the end of the game and there will have to be a marked improvement in results if Beale is to win the fans back. With one win in six meetings agai…

Milan-linked Caqueret signs new Lyon contract

Milan s reported pursuit of Maxence Caqueret might have to be put on ice after the Lyon midfielder signed a new contract with the Ligue 1 club.

France Under-21 international Caqueret was reportedly of interest to the Rossoneri, who are aiming to win Serie A this season for the first time since 2011 they hold a two-point lead over rivals and defending champions Inter heading into the final two games of the season.

Milan are, however, set to lose midfield powerhouse Franck Kessie on a free transfer ahead of next season, with the Ivory Coast international reportedly set to join Barcelona.

As such, Milan will be hoping to line up a replacement, and 22-year-old Caqueret had apparently piqued their interest, with his contract at Lyon winding down.

But any hop…
